Chugge Khan
Folk ArtisteChugge Khan has his roots in the golden sand dunes of Barmer and Jaisalmer and is one of the most powerful voices of the ancient Manganiyar musical lineage where every song is a living archive of the desert. A master of instruments such as the morchang, khartal and bhappang, his music reflects the spiritual depth, melodic nuance and rhythmic brilliance that characterise Rajasthani folk. From devotional qawwalis to Sufi, Punjabi and fusion, Khan’s artistry flows effortlessly across genres shaped by a lifetime of dedication that began at the age of four.
From performances across continents including France, Japan, Australia and South Africa to global stages such as Womex, Barbican, Commonwealth Games and RIFF, Khan has become a cultural ambassador of Rajasthan’s musical heritage. His collaborations with artistes such as A R Rahman and Shiv Mani further reflect the range of his craft.
