Anamika

Poet, Writer and Academic

Anamika is a Hindi poet, novelist, professor, and translator. Poems from her award-winning collections, Anushtup, Khurduri Hatheliyan, Doob-Dhan, Tokri Mein Digant, and Paani ko Sab Yaad Tha, are taught at various universities. She has extensively translated works by Rilke, Neruda, Doris Lessing, Octavio Paz, and fellow women poets. Her doctoral thesis is on John Donne, and her major English publications include Transplanting British Poetry in Indian Classrooms, Donne Criticism Down the Ages, Post-War Women Poets: Treatment of Love and Death, Feminist Poetics: Where Kingfishers Catch Fire, Translating Racial Memory, and Weaving a Nation: Proto-Feminist Writing in Hindi and Urdu. Her novel Aienasaaz reimagines Amir Khusro in a modern context. Her latest book, Aapai Aapan Paar, is a collection of love poems. She received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2020 for Tokri Mein Digant.
