Sujoy Banerjee

Forester, Conservationist & Musician

Sujoy Banerjee’s musical journey began in his college days. As an aspiring musician, he captured attention with his powerful vocals and soulful performances. Featured in the Rock Street Journal magazine and having performed at major events like the Philips Livewire Show in Mumbai and the Bhopal Mahotsav, Banerjee seemed destined for a bright future in music.

Choosing passion over popularity, he left behind a promising music career to dedicate himself to forests and wildlife. In 1996, he topped the Indian Forest Service Examination conducted by the UPSC in his very first attempt, emerging as the All-India first rank holder. Since then, he has earned numerous awards and widespread recognition for his work in conservation. A TEDx speaker and one of only 35 global changemakers selected under the British Chevening Scholarship Programme of the UK Government, Banerjee continues to inspire with his dedication and vision.

Music, however, never left his side. A gifted performer who can play the guitar and mouth organ at once, he writes and composes songs that carry a message — using rhythm and melody to connect people to nature and spread awareness about conservation.
