Tigmanshu Dhulia
Indian Film Director Haasil (2003) - National Film Award, Paan Singh Tomar- National Film Award and more...Tigmanshu Dhulia is an acclaimed filmmaker, dialogue writer, screenwriter, actor, producer, and casting director, widely celebrated for his remarkable contributions to Hindi cinema and television. A multifaceted talent, he began his journey as a dialogue writer for the 1998 landmark film Dil Se, the first Bollywood film to break into the UK Top Ten box office and one that was also screened at the Berlin International Film Festival.
As a director, Dhulia has carved a niche for himself with his gripping narratives and nuanced storytelling. His biographical masterpiece Paan Singh Tomar—which premiered at the 2010 BFI London Film Festival—earned widespread international acclaim and later went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film (2012). Equally impactful was his thriller-drama Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster, which further cemented his reputation as a director unafraid to explore complex characters and layered plots.
Beyond direction, Tigmanshu Dhulia has left a lasting impression as an actor, most memorably through his portrayal of Ramadhir Singh in Anurag Kashyap’s modern cult classic Gangs of Wasseypur. His performance in the film is still regarded as one of the finest depictions of political villainy in contemporary Indian cinema.
Over the years, Dhulia’s work has come to embody a unique blend of realism, depth, and mass appeal, making him one of the most versatile and respected figures in Indian cinema today.
